Events
Turkey said its artillery has fired on military
positions inside Syria after mortar shells fired from Syrian forces hit
residential buildings in the Turkish town of Akcakale killing a woman and her 4
children and wounding 13 more civilians as Syrian forces were shelling the
rebels’ stronghold of Tal Abyad along the border with Turkey.
Regime
forces shelled the village of Sahen in the Suburbs of Idlib using barrel bombs
and rocket launchers killing at least 27 civilians, of which 20 are of one
family. Regime artillery also shelled the Idlib suburbs of Arhiha and Jesser
Shoghour causing several deaths and injuries.
Four coordinated
explosions ripped through a government-controlled section of Aleppo city,
killing dozens of regime forces and militias and wounding nearly 100 others. The
blasts targeted a military officers' club and a nearby hotel.
The
explosions came as heavy fighting continued throughout the city of Aleppo
between rebel fighters and regime forces. In the meantime, regime forces used
their heavy artillery and fighter jets in shelling the neighbourhoods of Marjeh,
Sakhour, Jeser Jerab, Kalaseh, Bustan Qaser, Haydariya and Tariq al-Bab in
addition to number of towns in the suburbs leaving at least 40 civilians dead
and many more wounded.
At least 16 civilians were summarily executed by
regime forces in the Damascus suburb of Douma, while at least 19 civilians were
killed due to the systematic and indiscriminate shelling in the Damascus suburbs
of Qodsaya. Regime forces also executed a number of civilians in the Damascus
suburbs of Bibilia, Maliha and Moadamiya.
Regime forces carried out
sweeps, looting, arson and summary executions as they stormed the neighbourhood
of Tariq al-Sad and the Refugee Camp in the city of Daraa. Meanwhile, they
resumed shelling the Daraa suburbs of Inkhel, Bosra, Akraba, Koforshams, Zezoun,
Mahajeh and Lajat.
Fierce shelling was also reported in the Damascus
suburbs of Kafarbatna, Artouz and Hameh. They also carried out sweeps and
arbitrary arrests in the neighbourhoods of Nahar Aisha and Mashro Dummar in
addition as they resumed bulldozing houses and commercial establishments in the
neighbourhoods of Qadam, Barzeh and Qabun.
In the meantime, regime
forces resumed their fierce and indiscriminate shelling of densely populated
areas throughout the country, leaving scores of civilians dead and wounded while
destroying dozens of houses. They shelled the neighbourhoods of the old city of
Homs as well as its provincial towns of Talbiseh, Rastan and Qosayr. They also
shelled the Hama suburbs of Qastoun in the Sahl al-Ghab district. They shelled a
number of villages and towns in the suburbs of Latakia as well as the Raqa
suburb of Tal Abyad and the villags of Solouk and Hama Turkman in the province
of Raqa.
